Can the Wee Little Man

Can the Wee Little Man is a children’s book written by Steve Robbins and originally illustrated by Irving Kidd. The project began with decades-old black-and-white drawings that needed to be preserved, restored and transformed into a 
finished publication.
My role was to prepare Kidd’s original artwork for modern production while respecting the personality of his hand-drawn style. I digitally cleaned and restored the scanned illustrations, removed discoloration and unwanted backgrounds, repaired damaged areas, and developed a cohesive color palette for the characters and environments. I also composited existing illustrations into complete scenes, repurposed visual elements where appropriate, and integrated the artwork with the story through typography and page layout.
In addition to the interior design, I collaborated with the original artwork to create the cover and prepared the complete 20-page book for print. The final publication preserves the character of Kidd’s illustrations while giving Robbins’s story a colorful, cohesive world that could finally be shared with readers.
