ABOUT THE DESIGNER
I'm Brianna Syma, and I'm from Mt. Pleasant Michigan. I graduated from Central Michigan University
with honors in May of 2023 with a BFA in Graphic Design Concentration. I specialize in Illustration, Layout Design, Web Design, Motion Graphics, and Brand Design.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Addy Award Winner
I, along with 17 other students in my graduating graphic design cohort, put together our senior Capstone exhibit, which went on to win, not only a Gold Addy Award for student submissions, but also won the Overall Winner Award in Michigan. From there, our Capstone went on to win a Bronze in the Obie Awards a few month later.

2023 Annual Juried CMU Student Art Exhibition at the University Art Gallery
My piece titled "The Great Adventures of Addy the Squirrel: The Origin of Addy" was chosen to be in the Student Art Exhibition. The juror Jessica Brandl, an artist and professor at Western Michigan University, reviewed 166 works, but only selected 64 to be in the exhibit.

FACTS ABOUT ME
I spent some of my childhood in Kenya. I feel like that experience opened my eyes to the beauty that is constantly surrounding us, and I want to dig into the fascinating details when I create art.
I love being creative and always have, but it wasn’t until I had my first job as a cashier that I realized just how much I loved it. My boss saw my doodles and gave me the opportunity to paint on the store windows. I was in the process of starting my psychology major and that experience made me quickly realize that I wanted a job that I could be creative, explore and also bring my ideas to life.
Since then, I’ve had many great design opportunities such as working for the City of Mt. Pleasant and having multiple intern positions. These experiences taught me how to work within a brand, while also revealing my passion for illustration.
I strive for my designs to transmit creativity and happiness to others because I personally think that the world is sometimes dark, and I want to radiate some light.
